1, 2, 3, the devil is after me.
4, 5, 6, I'm always in a fix.
7, 8, 9, he does this all the time.
You might remember that little rhyming song from your childhood. It came to my memory this morning but I changed the ending to - 7, 8, 9, victory is mine! I changed the ending because that's the truth. In Christ, I am more than a conqueror.
Lately, though it seems like the enemy is not concerned so much with me as he is with this nation. He's after this nation. In Matthew 28, Jesus told his disciples to go and teach the nations. That's one of the great commissions. The other one is in Mark 16 and it says "go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature."
"Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them (nations) to obey everything I have commanded you"(Matthew 28:19-20).
"Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone, everywhere" (Mark 16:15, Living Bible).
God is concerned about people but God is concerned about nations as well. A nation rules over its people making laws that influence the land for good or evil. A powerful nation influences the whole earth for good or evil. The enemy knows this and that's why he's not just after individuals but he is also after nations. He is after this powerful nation, the United States of America. We've been taught that he's an expert at deceiving individuals. He's also at work to deceive this whole nation and lead us astray as a nation.
Just a few minutes ago I was on my knees crying out to the Lord for this nation, "Father, it seems there is evil all around." But I heard the Lord say, "There's more with you than against you." The evil voices are amplified in this hour because that's what the enemy is doing - amplifying evil. But there are righteous voices being raised as well. They are in the prayer closet and they are being heard says the Lord. And He who hears both voices declares that "Although the evil voices are the loudest in this hour, they are not the majority. Take heart. Stand firm."
One of my main prayers is that lies, liars, and hidden agendas will be exposed. I pray that eyes and hearts will be open to the truth. I pray for righteousness in high places of government. I love to pray right out of the Word. Sometimes the prayers are more like decrees. I prayed and decreed Psalm 99 this morning.
The Lord reigns; (He is in control) Let the peoples tremble! (let the people fear You again) He dwells between the cherubim; (in glory and mercy, selah) Let the earth be moved! (repent and turn to God) The Lord is great in Zion, (in the church) And He is high above ALL the peoples. (All means ALL) Let them praise Your great and awesome name. He is holy.
The King’s strength also loves justice; (strength = power) You have established equity; (establish truth) You have executed justice and righteousness in Jacob. Exalt the Lord our God, And worship at His footstool. (footstool = this earth) He is holy.
This is not only an effective way to pray for the nation, but I end up being encouraged when I pray the Word. The enemy is after me. He is after you. He wants us discouraged and overwhelmed to the point that we don't know how to pray for the nation. He wants us to think that the issues are too out of control, that they're too big for us to touch from our knees. Remember that he is a LIAR; and he is the father of all lies being told in this hour.
Don’t' stop praying! Take heart! Stand firm!
