Yesterday while deep in worship, Jesus offered me a slice of cantaloupe. I was just loving on Jesus and He was loving on me, and suddenly I see this perfect slice of cantaloupe. It's like I could taste the sweetness. The texture was perfect - not too firm and not too mushy. Delicious!
The Lord was delighted that I was sampling the cantaloupe. I felt His heart longs for His people to take the time to taste Him, to experience the sweetness of His love.
"Taste and see that the Lord is good"
Psalm 38:4.
I thought about how eating cantaloupe is intentional. It doesn't just happen to appear in your fridge. Someone has to go to the store, buy it, wash it, slice it, and peel it. It takes some effort. We are so busy with our lives that we often don't want to put effort into spending time with Jesus. We are willing to do the bare minimum or the rote daily ritual, but pressing into His presence takes time, effort, sincerity and vulnerability.
Let me encourage you that the reward is worth it. The effort will pay off.
Maybe you don't like cantaloupe. Don't worry. He knows what you like.
I love Song of Solomon, the whole book! There's some intimate tasting going on in that book. In Song of Solomon 1:2, the bride (a symbolic picture you or me or the church ) says, "His love is better than wine". Wine makes your heart light and glad. His love is even more effective than wine. Wine comes from a root word that means effervesce, make vivacious or enthusiastic. Taste and see! He won't let you down.
In Song of Solomon 4:10, the bridegroom (a symbolic picture of Jesus) says to the bride, "Your love is so much better than wine". When we love on Him, we make His heart light and glad; we cause Him to effervesce or love on us vivaciously & enthusiastically. Tasting the Lord involves intimate worship. Likewise, it involves allowing Him to taste the fruit of your life.
He longs for your love.
He longs to love on you.
Taste & See that He is Good!!!
