As I was waking up this morning, I heard three words: molt, places, equip.
Molt means to shed old feathers, skin, or hair to make room for new growth. With birds, environmental wear and tear damages feathers which makes molting necessary for maintaining life. A set of new healthy feathers replaces the old ones, providing a new look, brighter color, and greater glory. Healthy feathers furnish greater strength for gaining altitude. As I studied about feathers and molting, my mind went to the eagle.
But they that wait upon the Lord
shall renew their strength;
they shall mount up with wings as eagles;
they shall run, and not be weary;
and they shall walk, and not faint.
Isaiah 40:3
The Septuagint says "they shall put forth fresh feathers like eagles". The verse refers to molting. That's how our strength is renewed. The Lord impressed on me that this time of quarantine has caused His people to shed the old and make room for Him to do a new thing. We need to shed religious mindsets, offense, jealousy, selfish ambition, (you add to the list). This molting involves calling out for fresh fire and new wineskins. These are essential for the new move that will happen when the church is able to open it's doors again.
Places. Everyone has a gift or calling. God wants us strong and in our places ready to minister to the new converts that will come in the door. We are to stir up our gifts and be ready to equip the new believers.
"We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith; if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully." Romans 12:6-8
"Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors, and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ." Ephesians 4:11-13
Molt, take your Place, and Equip;
and get excited about
the new thing God is going to do!
