Pass the Butter, Please

These are the words I heard from the Lord.

"Butter is on the table.

Rich revelation is coming forth

and will be put on the table

for my people."

If it's on the table, anyone seated at the table can reach for it or ask for it and put it their bread. We know that bread symbolizes the Word of God. While bread is a staple that supports life, butter adds deep richness and flavor.

I found the history of butter fascinating. It's likely that milk was first made into butter by accident around the time that animals were domesticated (around 8000 BC). A weary herdsman, thirsty from his travel, took a drink of milk from the sheepskin bag that hung off his pack animal. Something heavenly had transpired in the sheepskin. The constant juggling of the pack animal had transformed the milk into butter. Evidence of purposeful production of butter has been found on 4500-year-old tablets.

Butter is made from milk by churning (shaking) it until the butterfat separates from the buttermilk. Milk symbolizes the basic truths of our faith. Butter symbolizes deeper truths like discernment, wisdom, and revelation from the Word.

Job remembers when butter washed his steps. This means his steps were taken in wisdom, discernment, and revelation. The results were respect and prosperity. Shepherds of the Lord's people can continue to feed people bread but those who add butter (deeper truths) will see their flock get spiritually fatter or stronger in their faith. This will make them become even hungrier for the word of God. There is much confusion today about good and evil. It's butter (deeper truth) that will bring the needed revelation.

"Butter and honey shall he eat,

that he may know to refuse the evil,

and choose the good."

Isaiah 7:15

Abraham served butter to the Lord when He appeared to him in the plains of Mamre. I believe our praise offerings and our worship will become deeper, more sincere, and less inhibited.

The Lord said, "Butter is on the table". The message is this:

1. Deeper truths and revelation are available to anyone who asks for it, reaches for it, goes after it.

2. Deeper truths will be desired over seeker friendly messages. The body of Christ is hungry for butter. They will go where the butter is.

3. Deeper, less inhibited worship will be offered to our worthy Savior.

Pass the butter, please.
