I had a dream last night. I was ministering in a small group setting. People were sitting, circle fashion, in a living room. I had a box in my lap with a gift in it. As I wondered what the gift was and how to use it, a man on my right side handed me something else. When he gave it to me this second gift seemed large and awkward but as I received it, the gift fit in my hand. In fact, I could close my hand around it. It was a small stone and the word "love" was written on it. The stone seemed to have some kind of power that led me or gave me direction.
This morning I asked the Lord what the dream signified and what He was telling me. My devotional reading included John 21* where Jesus asked Peter 3 times if Peter loved Him. Each time Peter responded, "Yes, I love you, Lord". Each time Jesus followed Peter's confession of love with instructions to feed His people. Peter's motivation was to be love for Jesus. This included giving up his lively hood (fishing) to minister to people. Jesus also told Him there would be persecution. My take away was that a truly laid down life has to be motivated by love.
Then I read and meditated on 1 Corinthians 13 which is known as the "Love Chapter" and
in my spirit, I heard the Lord say:
I am about to open the curtains
so that everyone can see
what is hiding behind it.
There will be an unveiling, revealing, and exposure of people's true motives especially in the area of love. Those who use their platform or spiritual gifts for self-promotion or personal gain will be exposed in the light of those who use their platform or spiritual gifts from a motivation of love. True motives will become evident, especially love or the absence of it. This will not be a gradual, gentle exposure. This will be more like the sudden ripping of the curtain with no place to hide.
This unveiling will bring about
a shift in leadership on many platforms,
both political and spiritual.
My response was one of humility, self-examination, repentance, and prayer.
Father, I desire to love You first, to love You most, to obey You, and to be led by Your love for people. Right here in my prayer closet, please show me where my motives are wrong, where I am being led by anything other than Your love. Please open the curtains of my eyes first in this private place.
Of course, you know He honored and answered my prayer. He met me there in my prayer closet with light that exposed, mercy that forgives, grace that cleanses, and an infilling of His love.
Please take some time and let Him minister to you in the area of love. Here are some verses for your consideration, starting with a link to the "Love Chapter"
"You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ This is the first commandment. And the second, like it, is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these" (Mark 12:30-31 NKJV).
"By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another" (John 13:35 NIV).
"We know that we have passed from death to life because we love each other. Anyone who does not love remains in death" (1 John 3:14 NIV).
"Whoever claims to love God yet hates a brother or sister is a liar. For whoever does not love their brother and sister, whom they have seen, cannot love God, whom they have not seen" (1 John 4:20 NIV).
Imagine being led by His powerful love.
Where will it take you?
