Currently, my devotional reading is in the book of Ezekiel. Throughout the book, I noticed this phrase or variations of it is repeated over and over again:
"They will know
that I am the Lord God."
Ezekiel was a prophet of the Lord and the book contains one prophecy after another. Each prophecy is a Divine judgment against either Israel or one of 7 other nations as they related to Israel. Many of the prophetic judgments end with "They will know that I am the Lord God." The word "they" points to the nation Ezekiel was prophesying over.
The phrase is reiterated so often that I began to pray into it, asking the Lord what He is trying to reveal to me. This is what He spoke to my spirit:
The nations will know
that I am the Lord God;
For with a long arm,
I will demonstrate both
mercy and judgment.
Look for it.
It's on the horizon now.
God calls Israel His wife and has an everlasting covenant with her. How a nation treats and interacts with Israel is of utmost importance to the Most-High. Likewise, God takes note of how a nation treats and interacts with the Church (the bride of Christ). He is extremely aware of how nations deal with the poor, the innocent ( children), and the infirmed.
Let the nations beware and fear the Lord. He is El Elyon, creator and possessor of heaven and earth. The earth is still His footstool. His kingdom will come! His WILL will be done even on national and worldwide levels. The nations are after all only a drop in His bucket.
God is about to do something so HUGE, so unforeseeable, so supernatural that no one will be able to deny that He is God! It will be captured on the internet and be seen across the globe.
The nations will know
that I am the Lord God.
I feel strongly that He is about to do something as significant as He did on Mount Carmel when holy fire consumed the alter. Look specifically at Elijah's prayer in verse 37:
"Hear me, O Lord, hear me, that this people may know that You are the Lord God, and that You have turned their hearts back to You again” (1 Kings 18:37NKJV).
Ezekiel prophesied God's judgment on the nations so that the nations would know that He is the Lord God. Contrast that to Elijah's prayer for God's mercy. He prayed that God would demonstrate His power so they would know that He is the Lord God and turn their hearts back to Him again. Let this be our prayer for Israel, our nation, and the nations of the earth.
Father God, in mercy, reveal Your power. Do a mighty, yet merciful act that will usher in repentance, reformation, and revival on a worldwide scale.
May the nations know
that You are the Lord God.
May the nations fear You.
