What's in the Mix?

Early this morning in a dream, I heard the Lord ask, "What's in the mix?".

So, I ask you: What's in the mix? What's in the mix as you pray? What motivates your prayers?

He wants each of us to examine our own spirit. We've been on the battlefield of prayer, asking God to expose wickedness and corruption on a national level. Perhaps an arrow from the enemy got through and is influencing our prayers. Right now there is so much evil in the air, trying to creep into our thinking and our actions, trying to become part of who we are. The Lord wants each of us to allow the Holy Spirit to examine every facet of our being and expose anything that is not pleasing to Him.

Here is a list of things that might be influencing or motivating your prayers.

anger anxiety arrogance bitterness complaining

doubt dread expectation faith fear

hatred hope humility injustice joy

love offence worry worship frustration

selfishness self-righteousness selfish ambition

It's easy to recognize the good and bad items on the list. But, be humble. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you identify what's in your mix. Check them off as He highlights them. Then sit with Him. Repent of any wrong thinking. Remember that a little leaven leavens the whole lump. Ask Jesus to heal and cleanse your spirit.

Here's what the Holy Spirit impressed on me. Our prayer's need to be motivated by:

1. LOVE. Love for God. Love His plans. Love His ways. Love His Word.

Love righteousness. Love truth. Love people. Love justice. Love never fails.

2. FAITH. "And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us. And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of him" 1 John 5:14-15.

3. HOPE. Our prayers should pursue an ever-deeper relationship with Jesus, both for ourselves and others. He is our blessed hope. "Waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ" Titus 2:13.

If our prayers are motivated by a mix of these 3 (Faith, Hope, & Love), they will be full of worship and thanksgiving. They will be effective. Joy, peace, and victory will be ours.

"So now

faith, hope, and love abide,

these three;

but the greatest of these is love"

1 Corinthians 13:13.
